Summertime

I love summer.  I always have.  It’s my absolute favorite time of year – even above the holiday season.

Summertime means grilling on the back porch, being water logged from too much time spent in the pool, spending time with family and friends, soaking up lots of sunshine, celebrating my birthday, bare toes touching soft green grass, blowing bubbles until my cheeks hurt, and much more.

This weekend, due to some really high temps and scheduling mix-ups ALL my fault, I had the entire weekend OFF!  It was awesome.  I did get a TON of proofing finished, but I was able to be home with my family, running outside between photo edits to squirt water at two silly little boys using our hose.

What could be more perfect than that?

My dad is the BEST cook ever!  He can grill a mean burger and an even better steak.

So, this weekend, we spent some time at my parent’s using up their swimming pool and mooching burgers as much as possible!  I even got to read a few pages in a book!  Imagine!

Both of my boys love being in the swimming pool.  Wes is even warming up to the idea of getting a few splashes on his face!  Of course, it helps that Grandma keeps a bucket full of water toys close by  just for the purpose of splashing!

Wes is easily distracted, though.  When he sees my camera, look out!  He comes running at full speed to jump in the shot…yelling a big, hearty CHEESE at the same time!  I absolutely love it!  HA!

He gets so close to the camera it’s nearly impossible to get a well-focused shot.  Still, there’s something about an up-close-and-personal photo with a cute little dude like this!

Speaking of cute dudes…whose that HUNK-A-BURNIN-LOVE hanging out in the water?

Oh, don’t worry.  I was able to locate Ty who went missing from the pool for a bit.  I guess it’s WAY more fun to roll down Grandma and Grandpa’s hill in a tunnel!

Yep!  Summertime can only get sweeter as the season goes by.
