Meet Jonathan.
He is 14 days old and the tiniest little boy I’ve ever held in my hands. He came into this world a bit earlier than expected surprising his mom and dad on, none other than, the 4th of July. I suppose he needed a few fireworks in celebration of his glorious birth!
He is soft and cuddly and bendable….I adored getting to hang out with him this week.
He was the easiest baby to photograph, only opening his eyes for brief periods when we were a bit noisy laughing at all of his expressions. Every now and then he’d grunt, squirm, and squish his way back to the position he wanted. He was perfect in every way.
Just ask his mom and dad…and big brother who are already in awe of his own special characteristics. Isn’t it funny how we compare our second baby to our experiences with the first. During our session, his momma and I were sharing stories of what it’s like (and will be like in the future) to raise two sweet and spunky little boys. I know it will continue to be extraordinary and even more exciting as the years go by.
Jonathan’s big brother was so sweet today. He kept telling me not to worry, “it’s just what little brothers do”. It was the cutest thing I’d ever heard. He said it more than once at times when Jonathan would be grunting or cooing….and sometimes maybe even tinkling on us a bit….
Another member of this family who seems to think Jonathan is pretty interesting is Gizmo. Isn’t he the cutest dog! He was so protective of the new little guy and hung close by me throughout the entire session keeping an eye on things. He was truly a very special dog.
We had great weather here today (not too hot) so we spent the majority of our session on the back patio. It was cozy and warm and kept little Jonathan very happy. Of course, it helped that mom was around…
This next shot totally cracks me up! I mentioned how Jonathan slept through most of our session only peeking out of his pretty eyes if something got his attention. At this point, we’d been moving him around quite a bit and I think he was starting to get perturbed. He peeked out of one eye and gave us this look…
“Uhm…hello…trying to sleep here…”
and within seconds he was back at it.
It took us a while to get the next one. I think he was a bit ticklish. Just about the time I’d get the camera focused he’d move those toes around! Still we were able to get this…
While we were in the process of changing setups, I caught this shot of Jonathan’s daddy checking up on the little guy…
and before I go…here are a couple of shots of Joshua, Jonathan’s big bro, showing some excitement over having a new brother around. His smile says it all!
