Campbell Loves Crayons…

While spending the day with her family last week, I was able to snap a few shots of Campbell as she was doing one of her favorite activities.  Coloring.

She was so intense.  It got me to thinking…

I still LOVE to color.  In fact, I encourage my boys to color ALL THE TIME, but they get bored so easily.  They’d rather be playing cars or chasing the dogs around the yard…something active.  It’s funny, because I hardly ever get to finish a picture.  AND THAT, drives me NUTS!

But, little Campbell here was focused.  There was no distracting her.

After coloring for a few moments, she’d stop, sit back, and admire her work.  Then she’d contemplate the next color.

I could have watched her for hours.  It really was funny.

Once she realized we were watching her, she wanted us to participate.  Since I had the camera, her daddy got to help out.  :)

Yay for dads that will color with their daughters!

Take a look at him, though.  He’s pretty intense, too.  I wonder if that’s where Campbell gets it?  Heh…heh..

Check out her awesome crayons!  Perfect for fingers her size.  AND, she was an expert crayon picker, too!  Everything coordinated!

Finally, after what seemed like FOREVER, she decided she’d had enough and moved on to showing me Thomas.

Maybe sometime soon she’ll let me come over and color with her again.  I’d bring the boys with me, but I’m afraid they’d run around, stepping on all our crayons…

nobody likes broken crayons…

March 10, 2010 - 7:40 am Jennifer - I've got one that will color and draw like that for HOURS! It is so cool.

I ♥ JM

This past Friday I was lucky enough to sit four rows up from the floor (because I’m too old and lazy for floor seats) at the John Mayer concert in OKC.  I will never be the same.

Man, oh man.

“Your body is a wonderland…”

There are TONS more pics to share since I couldn’t put the camera down for more than 30 seconds.  BUT, this will have to hold you over.  I have a wedding to finish proofing for a REALLY cool bride who’s been very patient.  :)

I’ll see you peeps in the funny papers…

Have a totally RAD Tuesday!

March 9, 2010 - 7:44 am Kim - man! I totally wanted to go...LOVE me some John Mayer. ;)

Harper • 4 days

Meet Harper.

She’s the newest addition to one of my favorite families, and she’s perfect in every way – 10 fingers, 10 toes.

I’m pretty sure she’ll be spoiled before the week is up…but that’s just speculation.

I spent three hours getting to know this little gal, and she spent three hours getting to know me.  I guess she figured if someone new was going to be there, she might as well be awake for the event.

SO SHE WAS….

the ENTIRE time.

Apparently, she loves to sleep.  BUT, not this time.  There was WAY too much activity to miss!

Don’t let these pictures fool you.  She only shut those pretty little eyes to keep the bright sun out.  Before you know it, she’ll have them wide-open again. :)

Hi there, gorgeous.

We figured if she’s was gonna be awake, we might as well squeeze in some family pics, too.

I’d say that’s one lucky little gal….rounding out a perfect family.

By this time, she was SO sleepy, but was really fighting it.  The yawns were coming fast…

I think this one’s my favorite.  It pretty much sums up our time together…her trying to stay awake while we tried to get her to sleep.  funny.

Finally, toward the end, she’d doze off for a few seconds at a time.  AND THEN, pop those eyes right back open again!

I’d say this finished out a SPECTACULAR weekend for me.  Stay tuned.  I’ll be posting more about that soon.

Until then, happy Monday!

March 10, 2010 - 12:35 pm Shannon - How precious !!!

Be Still My Heart…

The kid has it all.

He’s serious.  I call him a “deep thinker”.

He’s quirky.  I call him charismatic and captivating.

He’s bull-headed.  I call him determined.

He’s funny.  I call him witty.

He’s so DRAMATIC.  I call him riveting.  :)

This is a prime example….

It all started while showing a little love toward our pup.  Innocent enough, right?

Awww, you say.  So sweet.  BUT, it went from sweet and loving to…

Attack pup on the loose.  Yep, I don’t have a photo of the next scene, because I had to rescue Ty from said pup.  In no time, Echo (our pup), was on top of Ty licking and scratching and just getting plain ‘ole excited.  You know how pups are, right?  Well, apparently, it was NOT fun for Ty.   He immediately burst into tears.

At this point, I tell him (because I’m into tough love and all) to “get tough”.  I go on to explain that we live in the country and dogs are gonna jump on you…yadda yadda yadda.  I finish off by telling him if he can’t take the heat, go in and take a nap.  He’s obviously tired.  It’s not really like him to wail loudly over a pup jumping on him.  He is an animal lover, after all.

This was him during our one-sided conversation.

and right afterward (once I’d mentioned the “n” word.  N-A-P)

Oh, the drama….

Usually, in instances like these, it’s best to tease him a bit or tell him a couple of jokes, which I proceeded to do.

Slowly, but surely, this magnificent and warm-hearted little boy started to forget the drama.

Then I pulled out my secret weapon.  I said, “POOPY”.  Yep, I did.

Just look what that one word does for our bull-headed boy.

And finally, a discussion (again, one-sided) of how lucky he is to have such an amazing and spectacular MAMA who loves him.

Aww, yes.  There it is.  That smile.  Those eyes.

And the world was right again.

Be still my heart.

March 4, 2010 - 9:36 pm Brandi Moore - I love it! Sounds just like my daughter - the drama portion especially! He is such a cutie.

March 4, 2010 - 9:51 pm Jennifer - We too know drama around here far to well. It must be a 5 year old thing!! Ty looks so grown up in these pictures...they grow WAY to fast!

March 5, 2010 - 9:27 am Shannon - That is to cute !!! I love the stories behind all of the pictures !!!

March 10, 2010 - 12:57 pm Katherine - Sometimes in a very stern voice Chad or I will say to Courtney, "Courtney...we have something really important to tell you and it is best you pay attention...are you listening." In which she replies, "yes ma'am or sir" (depending) Then we'll go, "POOP!". She thinks it is the funniest thing.

Hey, Good Lookin’…

whatcha got cookin’….

This pretty much sums up EVERY day of his life.

March 4, 2010 - 3:15 pm Shannon - I love his eye lashes !!! He is a handsome little guy !!!

Moore Family

Yep, you’ve seen this crew before.  They’ve graced the blog numerous times and haven’t let me down yet.  They always have a great attitude during our sessions which happens to produce awesome photos.  They have fun!  Usually, we head somewhere near OKC, but this time they wanted to try the train depot.  They even brought along some outfits that describe their kiddos perfectly.  Keep an eye out for a gorgeous princess in pink and a rough-and-tumble cowboy!

This little guy was a mover.  I can’t believe I actually caught a couple of him looking at the camera.  It was tough.  BUT, what could we expect?  We were at the train depot and the sun was shining…

who has time for a crazy lady with a camera!

uh oh.  He’s giving me “the look”.  I was teasing him pretty bad, so I understand.  Heh…heh

Don’t let that look fool you, though.  This guy is a complete mess and I love it!  He’s guaranteed to produce at least one nutty photo per session (I won’t torture him with one this time).  He’s also really great at getting his kids (and wife) to smile, laugh, and be “real”.  AWESOME!

This one sure is a looker, isn’t she…

and, watch out, this cowboy is a rough rider!

I love how Dad ended up with the horse.  HA!

Have a happy Monday!

Snapshot Moms

Introducing…

Snapshot Moms

a workshop tailored specifically for moms who want to capture better photos of their children and family.  This is a BASIC workshop to help get you out of AUTO mode.  You don’t have to have any camera knowledge or an “expensive” camera.  You’ll gain TONS of information even if you show up with your point and shoot.

Snapshot Mom workshops are limited to 8 women ensuring you get a personalized experience.  At the end of our time together, you’ll have the opportunity to ask all your questions – pick my brain, so to speak.  Each participant will also go home with a cool new book to help out during the learning process.

Snapshot Moms will be offered a minimum of once a month, until enrollment starts to dwindle.  After that, it’ll be on an as-needed basis.  Every month, I’ll be asking a different mom to host the workshop in her home.  The reward for being a great hostess is FREE enrollment into the workshop itself.  If you’re interested in being a hostess and would like more details, shoot me an email.

At this time, I’m developing a list of moms who would like to attend a Snapshot Moms workshop.  The list is already quite long, so email SOON if you’d like to add your name.  When the first workshop date is decided, you’ll be the first ones notified.

Because Snapshot Moms is limited to 8 people each month, mom’s will have the option to plan an extra workshop by filling 8 spots on their own.  Basically that means, I’d be happy to help out more than once a month, if the need is there and you have 8 friends that want to attend.  If you aren’t able to fill all 8 spots, I’ll fill the remaining spots with gals from MY list.

Let’s say the group thing is not your style. I will be offering PRIVATE one-on-one workshops starting in April that can be scheduled at your convenience for $150 an hour.  Think how much you could learn!

Alright, without further ado, here’s the nitty gritty information…

February 27, 2010 - 10:40 am Kammerin - I would like to host, if needed. If you have enough hosts, I would like to get on the list.

February 27, 2010 - 6:23 pm Tracey@pruett.org - I am very interested and will hostess if needed.

March 2, 2010 - 8:22 pm cynthia - i am jealous...too bad i don't live closer!

Crazy Hair Day

Who would’ve believed it?  Not me.  He asked for a Mohawk this morning for school – I nearly fell over.  This is the kid that NEVER wants to participate in activities like this for fear someone, anyone, may look at him.

BUT, not today.  Today, he wanted a Mohawk for crazy hair day at school, and I obliged.

I’ve never seen a cuter kid.  :)

March 2, 2010 - 12:03 pm Shannon - To Cute !!!

HEADS UP!

You wanna hear about a super cool special?  Head over to Facebook and become a friend/fan of Shannon Gurney Photography – I posted an awesome deal for all my peeps this morning!  Better go check it out!

AND, since I really hate to post without a pic, here’s a point-and-shoot of my future Nascar driver…

I see speed in his future…

February 26, 2010 - 11:02 am Shannon - Look at that face, he is really into that game. So Serious !!! Cute !!
